Indian Bride Photoshoot

This model photoshoot was the first TFP (time for print) job I've done in a long time.  I normally give the people that contact me on Model Mayhem my rate, and they never contact me back.  Yep, they always want stuff for free.  It's okay, sometime (rarely) I feel I have enough free time floating around to do a TFP, especially if it involves getting to meet a new make-up artist.

The theme in this one was... Indian Bride.  It was going to be more of a portrait shoot, so I was in my safe zone (I do a lot of portraiture).

The make up artist was Paula Lanzador also from Model Mayhem.  I find meeting other make-up artists to be a lot of fun, because I'm meeting other creative types.  And next time you have a project, you can call up the person who has the style you're looking for.  And if they have a job in line, they'll do the same.  Hopefully.

For this job, I said they will get ONE photo the day after the shoot, retouched.  Then 4 more photos retouched in the next two weeks.  Make sure to get the model release form signed too.

Tony's Birthday Party

Last Saturday I was at Anthony Ferrari's Birthday Party.  That's right.  I do take pictures other than of models, people getting drunk, or nightclubs.  Sometimes.

This was a very friendly crowd.  I do a lot of party photography, but the dynamic changes in a house party.  Keep this in mind as a party photographer.  In a party, it's a bunch of people getting together to have a good time.  After you (the photographer) gets there, they go from just a bunch of people hanging out... to celebrities.  Really, if you've been at a party with a photographer, you know what I mean.  Attitudes change, and people seem to have more fun.

Most people enjoy having their picture taken.  Here, I ask people if they want their picture taken.  In a club, I don't need to go around asking, people will come up to me and ask for me to take pictures.  If they have a drink in their hand, I ask if they want it in the frame.  I like to remind people if they actually want to be seen with alcohol or not.  It does make a difference to people, and I do this at a night club too.  Sometimes.

Anyways, at a party, go around and chat with some people.  Getting to know them a little bit will let you take better photos of them: they feel more comfortable around you and relax when you snap that shutter button.

Girls Wanna Have Fun at Tunnel

I went out to the Tunnel Nightclub for some photography on Saturday to meet my friend DJ Mikxter from Independent Vancouver who happened to be DJ'ing that night.  It also just happened to be a ladies night, who knew.

Depends on how I feel like, I may also upload the video.  Sometime.  Maybe this week.  Ha!
